Postoperative wound infections increase the risk of increased length of stay, readmissions, reoperations and postoperative deaths, and are therefore stressful for the patient. The incidence of postoperative wound infections should therefore be reduced.<\/p>\n<p>The use of artificial intelligence (AI) provides the opportunity to develop advanced tools that can process and extract information from large amounts of data for decision support tools. In this project, the main goal is to develop an AI-based decision support tool that can predict the risk of postoperative wound infections.<\/p>\n<p>The project is a regional collaboration between Nordland Hospital, University of Troms\u00f8- The Artic University of Norway and University Hospital of North Norway. It is led by Kjersti Mevik who works as a surgeon and postdoctoral fellow at Nordland Hospital and has received funding through research funding from Health authorities of North Norway.
