Two new SPKI projects have been awarded innovation funds from Helse Nord for 2024. Both projects fall under the category of personnel-saving technology.
One project is titled KIKO-Gastro: Testing of AI for continuous monitoring in the ward and is led by Kristoffer Lein, Gastro, UNN, and Stine Hansen, SPKI. This project will last for two years and has been allocated a total of 2 million NOK. The main goal of the project is to improve working methods among healthcare personnel in the ward by utilizing sensor technology and AI. The project is a collaboration between the gastro-surgical department (UNN, Tromsø), SPKI, and the E-Health, Collaboration, and Innovation Center (ESI). Read more about the project here.
The other project is titled AI-MIQ: AI-Powered Mammographic Image Quality Enhancement for BreastScreen Norway. This project is led by Tor Andre Skjelbakken and Stine Hansen from SPKI. In the project, which will last for 2 years, the aim is to investigate whether the use of artificial intelligence can contribute to improving image quality in BreastScreen Norway. This project has also been awarded a grant of 2 million kroner. AI-MIQ is a collaborative project between the breast diagnostic centers at UNN and Nordland Hospital, SPKI, and the Cancer Registry.
